In warmer weather, it can be tempting to swim in lakes, rivers, and other open water around London. However, at this time of year, the water is still extremely cold and can hide serious dangers beneath the surface.
The RNLI provides important safety advice, which you can read here: 👉 https://rnli.org/safety
Every year, emergency services respond to tragic incidents in inland waters where people lose their lives. These accidents often happen quickly and without warning.
✅ Please help keep yourself and others safe:
· Avoid entering open water unless there are lifeguards present
· Be aware of cold water shock and hidden hazards
· Keep a close eye on children near water
· In an emergency, call 999 immediately
· Never enter the water to rescue someone — wait for trained responders
